New utility collection letter from NCO - Please help.

Hi all,

I just received a collection letter from NCO attempting to collect $28 for a utility bill. I moved at the end of June, paid off my balance, and was never billed again by the electric company. Suddenly, I have this collection on my hands.

This has not yet shown up on my credit reports.

What is the best course of action? If I pay the OC, will this still show up on my report? Should I DV NCO? Should I do a PFD with NCO?

Do I have to wait for it to show up on my credit report to DV?

Nope.. Send it now. You just got your dunning letter and sending it now would make it timely.  After they receive your DV they can't report it until they have validated it.
