Hi All - don't really know where to start on this one.
I cleared hubby's credit up a couple of years ago and got his scores from 548 to 750 - but they were old debts I was dealing with that had been sold and re-sold.
I have only been a green card holder for 3 years - so I started from scratch, built my credit up and kept everything perfect, and had 750 scores myself.
THEN, I happened to pull my CR on 10/26/12 and noticed a 30 day late on my QVC GEMB card. It had been due on 10/21/12 and I had completely forgotten about it!
So I went and paid it straight away - not the minimum payment of $53.00, but the full balance of $150.00 (that included a $35.00 late fee). I promptly sent a GW letter apologising, taking responsibility, and asking if they could remove the late.
THEN, last Tuesday 11/13/12 a collection appears on my credit report! CA is listed as CREDIT MANAGEMENT CONT - with a balance of $50.00 past due one month (though it says date opened is 8/1/12, so that's a head scratcher). It says "Seriously past due date / assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department". The first time I saw it was on 11/13/12 - I have not received a dunning notice. I'm assuming it's the QVC thing because I have no other collections and everything has been paid.
The collection is listed on Experian only, and the 30 day late is listed on Experian only - EQ and TU have as "paying as agreed".
Do I DV the CA? What about the lack of dunning notice?
AHA!
Further investigation showed it to be from our gas company - a $50.00 fee for changing services. However, I wrote a cheque on 9/11/12 for the payment, which my bank shows was cancelled on 10/04/12. Do I deal with the OC or the CA? The check was made out to and cashed by the OC.
Contact the OC. It was paid to the OC. The CA shouldn't have anything to do with it.
