Re: No Response from DV, should I dispute through CRA?

yes I did.

They haven't been calling or anything either. So its not like they are making any effort on this. Just the silly collection/120+ late on my report, holding me back from the 700 club.

Right, TU and EX show it will expire in april and june of this year respectively. I've been waiting to pull the trigger on my NFCU cashrewards card until this was gone. My util is under 9% right now. This is the only major hurting me.

Does it make a difference disputing online, or should I mail a letter in (using colored paper and different font, i.e. so it can't be scanned?)

I wouldn't bother disputing since this is so close to dropping off. But that's up to you.

As far as how to dispute it's been many years since I did that so I'll let others advise the best way to handle that.

If i don't dispute, what are the chances the DV letter amounts to anything? It very likely won't get the CO removed, unless the CA decides to do the right thing and drop the case?

I'd let it die a natural death unless you need it off now for a specific reason.

Otherwise, I'd look around the boards about how to dispute because of a lack of Dunning notice.

Is there a CO and a collection? The CO belongs to the OC and the CA has no authority over that; only the collection.

Re: No Response from DV, should I dispute through CRA?

From Experian:

Status Details: This account is scheduled to continue on record until Apr 2011.

From TransUnion:

Estimated date that this item will be removed: 06/2011

From Equifax:

Date Opened: 06/2010

Date Reported: 12/2010

Date Major Delinquency First Reported: 07/2010

Date of First Delinquency: 07/2004

It seems I have solid dates it will be removed from TU and EX, but EQ I'm not sure. It could go 7.5 years on that one. I don't want to wait that long. April? Yeah, I can hang in there for. June? Pushing it, but I guess if I'm opening a can of worms by doing anything else, then I'll hold off. But Equifax, I don't know when to expect it to fall off.

Re: No Response from DV, should I dispute through CRA?

Maybe I'm getting my abbreviations mixed up.

A junk debt collection agency, Federal Credit Corp, lists a 120+ late account on my EQ, but for TU and EX is listing a Collection. The original creditor, nTelos, is no where to be found (haven't heard from them since I closed the account years ago).

If CO is 'charge off' and not 'collection', then I apologize. I think thats what I'm confusing you over.

The same dates for CRTP apply. This can remain on EQ for up to 7.5 years from DoFD whichs means up to 1/2012. But it might drop off early as it appears it will do from TU and EX.

Re: No Response from DV, should I dispute through CRA?

EQ should remove it in approximately July.  I would expect it to be gone in August at the latest.  It's possible that if you call them, they'll tell you when to expect it to drop off more exactly.  Are you worried about getting approved for something in that timeframe?
