Is it possible to get a CC company to remove a note on my credit report that states - "Accounts Payments Managed By Debt Counseling Service"? I successfully completed a DMP a little over a year ago and Sears/Citibank is the only creditor that still has that note on my account. I have spent the last year really focusing on saving money and have not even attempted to get a new credit card. I am at a place now that I would like to apply for a credit card simply to take advantage of cash back and rewards that are being offered - but I'm hesitant to apply for anything while that note is still on my credit report. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Once you're done with the DMP, the debt is paid, that comment should be removed. Mine was.
I thought so too. It was removed from the other accounts I had in the DMP. Everything was paid in full and paid off early. Obviously my credit scores have rebounded nicely and theoretically I should be able to get a CC - but I'm too chicken to apply while that note is still on my report.
Folllow up - that comment was only on my EX report and only on one account. I sent a request to have it removed.
Let us know how it goes!
I got a response from Experian today - my report was updated and the comment was removed and replaced with "paid, closed, never late." That makes me feel better. I may be brave enough in the near future to app for a credit card.
Easy, peasy, lemon squeasy... LOL... Nice work!
