I applied for a lease yesterday, and I just got off the phone with the leasing agent. She's telling me that my negative credit history is keeping me from being approved. Okay, I understand that. She also said that I should consider going to a Credit Repair agency to get all the old stuff removed. As of right now, I have nothing BUT negatives on my report! The average age of my accounts is 6 yrs. I am not in the financial situation to be able to pay off all the old debt, therefore I've not done any PFD's. I have obtained a Secured CC, but have only had it for a little over a month (1 payment so far - PIF). When I got the card, my score did increase by 6 pts, and I'm hoping that paying the first balance in full will increase my score by afew more pts, but right now my problem isn't my score, it's my report!
I don't what what to do next. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Well it's going to be next to impossible to improve your credit without getting those negatives removed. I suggest first reading through the where to start thread, which has a ton of helpful information.

If you have not yet, pull your free annual reports-- see link below.
Then look over each account for DOFD, check for duplicates, accounts that aren't yours, etc.
Look up your state statutes to determine your SOL and if any of these accounts are within SOL.
For accounts within SOL, start saving to PIF.
For the ones that are duplicate or not yours, post back regarding the situation.
