Thanks to this forum, I am officially negative free!
I can't wait to experience the same. May I ask how long it took you?
Congrats!
How long have you been working on it?

congrats virgo, got me jealous naw lol jk... I hope to get there soon too. All the best
I know that its been said before but, 'if I can do it anyone can'.
6 months ago because of job losses, all I had to my name was my 98 PU, two cats and an HP tablet, 1 barely positive account , 15 really, really bad accounts and trying to finish undergrad research that I started 4 1/2 yrs ago. No phone and the tablet depended on hots-pots. I lived in my PU so any money I made from working went to my research and my bills.
I spent days looking for work and analyzing data (non-invasive animal behavior) and nights sitting in the parking lots of companies that happened to leave their routers on so I could get on line.
I realized that I had to treat my credit with the same importance as my research. I scrutinized it with a fine toothed comb. Negatives aside, errors abounded.
Regardless of the mistakes that CB's allow and creditors manipulate, the ultimate responsibility for my credit was on me. This is my backyard and I should have paid more attention to who was invading it.
It didnt' matter what I disputed, it always came back verified. All the CB's use E-Oscar, which by the way, they invented and set the guidelines for. I disputed any information that was inaccurate.
The law is clear. EVERY ITEM MUST BE ACCURATE, NO MATTER HOW SMALL.
Now, there is no law against putting inaccurate information on ones reports. Where the law comes in, is when it is disputed and it comes back verified and not corredted. I disputed electronically just to get it on record, then went straight to the horses mouths.
I bombarded the CEO's and the legal departments of every creditor that was reporting the information and the credit bureaus who refused to comply. I did not spend one dime on this. Everything was done on-line in writing. If I had to call, I borrowed a phone or called the 800 number and asked that they transferred me to the EO.
Some would, some wouldn't.
I did not spend all day everyday on this but I did reserve the time. I was not presented with PFD's but if that was required, I was ready for it.
I kept all my old credit reports so that even the trades that fell off due to age will get paid.
I hope this answered what you were asking. Thanks to all.
Ive still got 4 years and 10 months to go until entirely negative free. Damn Cap1 Auto. But my last 90 day late falls off in Nov which will take me down to 3 negative accounts. Verizon has about 3 years left (PIF CO), Sallie Mae with Dec 2010 30 day late and the aforementioned mess of Cap1 Auto with its last late being Dec 2011. I'll be happy with my report when I just have Cap1 left. I intend to try and GW Sallie Mae after my 90 day late falls off.
WTG, I know that sense of relief gotta feel awesome!!! Here's a round for your success:
Virgo, that is just wonderful news. I am working on feeling the same way this year and recognize the effort this requires. Congratulations on a job well done.
