Just this year, my state income tax was withheld and I started getting calls from a collection agency, saying that I owed money for court costs from over 11 years ago.  How is it that I received every state tax refund until this year and I am just now finding out about it and getting collection calls the statute of limitations is well past, but that hasn't kept the state from withholding my tax return.  Does anyone know if the statute of limitations doesn't apply to court costs, why would I be getting calls from a collection agency, and why won't the court contact me directly, they obviously have my address?????

Do you have a judgement? And if so was it renewed?

No judgment.  They are court costs form a criminal case from july 1999, april 2000, and august 2002.
