I'm not sure if this is the proper forum or not, but please feel free to advise and delete if it is not. I have an old BoA old student account, that had a CL of around $1000... at one point when I first got it, the payment history was horrible X50. At one point I finally decided to straighten things out, and so I made 20+ payments on time, and the account was closed. Since I do not owe them, is there anything I can do or work out with them to get this to not show up, or at least not show up as atrocious as it does?
Thanks

Are you talking about just late payments? How old are they? Late payments generally stop reporting 7 years from the date of each individual delinquency. You always have the option of trying GW (Good Will) letters to get them removed early.

I have a couple of 30 day late payments, and 180+ date payment (which is showing up as the delinquent late payment, I believe). The majoriy of the late payments happened in 2006-2007, so I know they aren't toooo far off from being removed (but I want them off now dammit!). I just didn't know since I don't owe them any money, the account has now been closed for a year+ and paid off, and I bank through them... if that would help me out in my favor at all as far as having it erased.

It seems like for many people 30 day lates start to lose impact after several years but I always wanted all of mine gone no matter what.
However that 180 late will hurt you for the entire time it reports IMO. Concentrate on getting it deleted early. If that account went 180+ days without being charged off you seem extremely fortunate because that would have been an additional derogatory besides the lates.

Is there anything that you know of I can do to get the 180+ late payment taken off, aside from the GW letter? The "good" news is, we're still about 7-8 years from today before we're going to be applying for any loans, so if it is stuck there I can wait it out without any major implication. I wouldn't mind upgraded my car in the next year or two if I can get a good rate, but what I have now is an 06 so that's not a must either as I don't mind what I currently have.
Worst part is... when I signed up for the checking account, I told the lady I didn't even want the damn card to begin with. Sure enough, two weeks later it shows up in the mail and I though... what the hell, how much damage could I really do? One trip to an casino in Canada and BOOM. I will forever despise this lady, she's rotten!

Since you say it is paid and closed I don't know of any other options. Someone else might have a suggestion.
And if these lates were all from 2006-2007 they will begin disappearing in 2013-2014 according to the exact month they occured.

Damn, kind of expected that, but was hoping there would maybe be a way to work around it... thanks for all your info on the matter, though!

There very well might be another solution but I don't know of one. If another option is available hopefully someone smarter than I am will come along and enlighten both of us.

Since you still do your daily banking with them and they have offices everywhere, why do you not go into your local branch and talk to a loan officer. Explain your situation back then and how now you are more mature and trying to get your life in order and how you have been a good customer for the past few years and see if there is anything they can do. He may be able to help you or, at least, advise you of your best option.
Otherwise, you have to try GW letters.
Good luck!
