Checking EX, I have a federal tax lien from 2005. Long story short, I was doing a ton of daytrading back then and the broker only submitted sells (so everything looked like a ton of profit). My CPA fixed everything and the lien was relased in Feb 2006. I actually found the Certificate of Release doing a public record search, so PR is certainly updated but EX is not. Shouldn't this be gone by now?
Who should I contact and how do I get this done? Are there any private services that will do the legwork and save me the effort (NOT Lexington law or one of the cookie-cutter mills, maybe an indiviual specialist)?
Also have 3 60 day lates from Sallie Mae SL from Nov 2009. Is it worth trying to do anything about them, or just wait it out another year until they drop.
There is a form to file with the federal govt http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f12277.pdf and it will be removed.

The lien is too old to remain on file, they do so for only 7 years from the date paid (released), I would dispute it as such directly with any CRA that is reporting it. For any individual lates they age off at the 7 year mark if the account is open or closed in good standing unless you can get them commuted by a GW letter http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Rebuilding-Your-Credit/GW-letter-Q-amp-A-Examples-and-GW-Success-Stories/td-p/1573680

Thanks,
Just went to equifax,.com, disputed it online and uploaded a copy of the lien release certtificate. Hopefully they can clear this up quick. My EX scores are 40 points lower.

I did the same thing six months ago ( file disputes) and all 3 bureaus deleted it within days. If you have any problems you just have to remind them that under the rules set forth in the FCRA they must remove it 7 years after release.
