I justttttttttt dealt with this same issue from the sameeeeeeee company last month!! They took an old embarq account, changed it to century link and re-aged it to May 2012 and killed my score (I'm under contract to buy a short sale).
I filed a complaint with the BBB after looking them up and seeing their A+ rating. I put in the complaint that the account was re-aged which is a direct violation of Federal law and I need this situation resolved immediately or I would be seeking legal advice as well as filing complaints with the AG and FTC. They responded a day later through the BBB that they were deleting. 2 weeks later, it was gone off all 3 reports and I gained my points back... Minus the hard hit for the lender re-pull.
Hope this helps!

Don't bother calling them either... Their CS are rude and under no circumstances do a PFD. Don't even mention a PFD, they log it in their system. Also, as far as dunning goes, I recieved mine AFTER I called them when I got the hit notice on my watcher. Oooohhhh and iffff you call, don't use your phone.... I called from my cell and not the house (that I'm never around to answer) and they called me back on it for a collection call.

Just filed a complain with BBB , as of now it does not show their grade (A+, F) so maybe too many complains against them.
I will follow suit with FTC and AG if no responce a couple of days.
I'm in texas, are they more laws that might help ?

I would have said PFD , but looking at other posts seems good not to mention if they just log ur request. Its like they wait til you get a mortgage inquiry then send collections hit.

This is the response I got from the BBB complaint.
A delinquent account in the amount of $230 was placed with our office for collection on May 3, 2012.
On may 5, 2012 our agency forwarded a letter to Mr.... Address on file advising of the placement in our office.
In effort to further assist , our agency will attempt to obtain related documentation associated with the account. Upon receipt of any material the docs will be forwarded to the address on file.
In effort to resolve Mr... Complaint, our agency has submitted a deletion request in association with the credit
reporting agencies and the account.

So is this good, also they don't mention who the OC was, this collection posted is around the date I had a
mortgage inquiry show up on my report. One in 5-8-2012 and 4-9-2012.
I have 5 days to respond to their answer on BBB, the account still shows as of 6-21-2012 630pm central time, will see tomorrow.
Any input is appreciated.

This is the exact response that I got minus the part about forwarding a letter. To this date I have never received a letter or phone call from Enhanced Recovery about this account. I also sent them a separate DV letter in which I requested the name of the OC. In my letter they referenced a confirmation number for the deletion request. Did they give you a confirmation number? I accepted their response to my complaint. It is still showing on my reports. I believe I saw another post that said theirs was deleted in about 2 weeks. I have noticed that TU does not delete my accounts as quickly as the others, but hopefully it will be deleted soon and yours too. Good luck!!

I did get confirmation # on the letter, I'm hoping this get deleted quickly as I have no idea when the lender will pull my credit once again.
I'm suppose to get my approval letter tomorrow and will start looking at some houses this weekend.
thank you to all for your responces.
