So the last couple years were really rough and I wasn’t able to pay any bills. I am not working and I want to improve my credit, but I am not sure how, or if I should just file bankruptcy. Here’s what I have, and it is really embarrassing!

I have 15 closed accounts in good standing… but they’re closed so I’m sure they don’t matter. Can someone help me? I have NO idea where to start and I am SP overwhelmed.

No need to be embarrassed. We have ALL been there, or we would not be HERE.
What is your potential job outlook? I would not even worry about rebuilding at this point, concentrate on getting back into the workforce first. I would not consider BK until creditors begin to sue and get aggressive.
Can you pay any of them? Midland likes to sue. What state are you in?
I'm in Californina. I have a stable job, with decent income, now. I can't aford all of it 100% right now, but I can definitely do a little at a time.

Oh, ok. Thats good then. I would suggest approaching it from a "what item can get worse" and "what item hurts worse" scenario. OC charge offs that still show a balance are the items that hurt scores the most, and have the potential to worsen. Those are the items I would address first. After that, since they ae all about the same age and relatively recent, I would simply go from smallest to biggest, trying to get PFD's if possible, and if you can't (don't take the first "no" for an answer) then settle for as little as you can.
In the meantime, you want to work on establishing at least three or more revolving accounts.
Thank you so much! I'll look into opening an additional account, and then offering PFD from smallest to largest. Thank you!
I can see this rebuild is going to be addicting! First good thing that happened already!
Sent an email for the tax lien a couple hours ago, and the lady called and said she’s sending out letters today to vacate and remove!
1 down! 14 to go!
Keep up the good work! I am still working on mine with Experian.
