@ Shogun I agree and wish I would not have gone that route with an aggressive PFD letter. Could of saved sometime and possibly resolved this sooner by taking the nice short and sweet approach..
Thanks Guiness. You are one of the reason I like to refer to these forums. Lots of helpful people with a ton of Knowledge.
Another Question if they interpret the letter as a dispute and since receiving the letter have been updating my credit report for June and July.. is that ok for them to do that?
I had forgotten you sent that other PFD so, it was disputing the acccount. That is why we don't like to use it. A PFD is a type of GW.
To answer your question, yes, they can update monthly until paid.
I would get that other letter to them ASAP.
Sent it Attn: Sr. Assoc. as a fax.
I am going to follow up with him in 30 to make sure it was received and hopefully get this out of my hair for one last time.
I called them and asked to speak to "Sr. Assoc." He wasn't available but was transferred to his Sr. Partner who was briefed on what was going on. We discussed PFD he said it was not an option. He said the best they can do is call it PIF at 60% which was my original offer, then said after 15 days for me to dispute with Exp. he said since the account status was PIF they would not update the CRA and I would see it drop off that way. I made sure to ask that this was PIF and not settled. He said this would be PIF and once again to dispute in 15 days after payment was made for it to drop off. He said it makes no sense for them to validate a debt that owes them no money.
Guess now I will wait and see. Hopefully it gets removed. :crossesfingers:
Good luck. Most of the time the CAs that say to do this will honor their word.
Another Note.
I looked up the name of the Sr. Partner and he happens to be CEO of the company.
Hope everything pans out. Thanks again for the help
I would definitely hope the CEO doesn't misguide you lol.
Last Update Until Later in August when I file the dispute.
I got the receipt with their letterhead via email as promised. The Verbage says PIF just like he stated.
Please keeps this receipt confirming the above account is now Paid-In-Full. We received your payment on 7/25/2013. The authorization number for this payment is XXXXXXXX. If Collection Agency reported this account to any credit reporting agencies, our next update will report the account as paid.
If your payment is returned to our office for any reason, this receipt becomes void, and we are not obligated to renew this offer. This communication is from a debt collector attempting to collect a debt. Any information obtained will be used for that purpose.
Sincerely,
