PFD and DV letters - Should I sign?

Hello! I am trying to rebuild my credit in order to get a mortgage in the next 3 years. And have a quick question. I am trying to get 3 new-ish medical bills removed from my TransUnion and Experian reports. All three were reported within the last 6 months and total about $600. Since they are fairly new and the CAs are still sending me notices,  I am hoping that PFD letter will work. However, I am not sure if I should sign the letters or just type my name.

I also discovered a collection for the old Comcast account, opened in 2010, reported  in 2012. I lived abroad between 2008 and 2012 and I am pretty sure that the only time I ever had Comcast was back in 2007-08. And the account was in my then boyfriend's, now husband's name. So that's where I have another question - what would be the best way to take that off my reports?  Should I dispute directly with the CRAs since the account was not in my name?  Can a CA report my husbands account as mine? Or should I send a DV letter and if so, should it be signed? And finally, if I do send a DV letter, what are the typical following steps?

Thank you for your help.

Never sign your name.  Typing it is enough.

On the Comcast bill, if you know it wasn't in your name (no joint account), dispute it as not yours with the CRAs.

I don't know my start scores, but low 500s. 6/2013
