PFD didn't delete, just updated....but 57pt score jump?

I thought unless a CO was deleted there would be no score change. Woke up this morning to a 57pt jump on ex fako. Had a pfd letter in writing from alltel so I thought right away the alltel entry was deleted. It was not the only change in the side x side reports from yesterday and today was a comment added by alltel: Paid, was a collection account, insurance claim or government claim or was terminated for default.

When I got the PFD letter I called and spoke to a very nice person who confirmed it would indeed be deleted. The letter said all negative entries would be removed from credit bureaus. I wanted to confirm that before paying. However as you can see they only updated. My question is do I accept the 57pt jump from the update, even though I thought a CO or collection was scored the same whether paid or not? Or do I call alltel and ask them why they didn't delete and please do so as the letter states they will? Would that give an even bigger jump? The purpose of this repair is for a mortgage if that matters. Here is the entry as I see it this morning on credit report:

Just because you saw a jump on FAKO doesn't mean you got a jump on your FICO score, which is what matters.  You need to keep after alltel to honor their letter...

I don't think your account was a CO, it was a collection. Also, CO's and collections both hurt your score, but paying a CO can improve your score since it will no longer be factored into your AAoA opaid the balancrep reports as $0. Chasmith is right, don't pay attention to anything FAKO.

It isn't the AAoA, it is utilization.

It was an internal collection account from the OC.

Re: PFD didn't delete, just updated....but 57pt score jump?

The PFD letter wording is

"If you pay the amount of 711.70 you will be removed from collections and any negatve marks will be removed from your credit report within 30 days"

so when I call them I expect them to say the negative remarks were removed by updating and marking paid and they aren't going to delete like I asked him three times on the phone!!!! ARGH!!!!

Re: PFD didn't delete, just updated....but 57pt score jump?

i had a similar situation recently where i had paid off a collection with a past due balance ( a couple, actually).  my freecreditscore.com fako jumped like 60 points, my real fico from here went up like 30ish.

If it hasn't been 30 days I would wait a bit.  If it has been over send a copy of the letter to the CRAs and ask for it to be deleted.

I thought CRA's frowned on that. I will wait another week then send letter to CRA's but was told the CRA'S absolutely won't delete.
