Paid collection to Midland, HSBC still showing balance and reporting CO

Sorry for all of the questions lately, I am really working hard to get my scores back up.

Question for the day/hour:

I have a charge off on my CR from HSBC.  It was sold to Midland, and I paid it back in 2010.   Been trying to GW Midland, but no success.  It is showing up on my CR twice, once for Midland as a paid collection and once from HSBC as a charge off WITH a balance.  Should I have two negative TLs for this one account?  Is that just the price to pay for being irresponsible, or is there a way to get the HSBC TL off?

Thanks so much!

Scott

Re: Paid collection to Midland, HSBC still showing balance and reporting CO

If HSBC sold the account to Midland then HSBC should be reporting a 0 balance but ones is a charge off you will have 2 negatives 1 for HSBC and 1 for Midland you might wanna dispute HSBC for the balance if they verify you need to find the payment you made to Midland for the account.
