Hi there. I am reading lots of success stories here regarding PFD's. I've gotten ZERO luck in this department. The collection agencies say they have a policy NOT to delete from CR's, even with a payment or payment in full.
Was this on the phone with the collector? If so, ask for a PFD in writing. Another option is doing a GW after settling/ PIF of the account.

+1. Never ever never ask for a PFD over the phone. Their word is never their bond. Always get it in writing. For example, OP, I saw a recent post of yours w/ AFNI, IIRC. Send one in writing and within 2-3 tries, you'll like their response.
And some just don't grant PFDs, but you have to keep trying. For example, I had success with Verizon Wireless. They are notorious for not accepting PFDs. After 100+ tries (not joking), they finally said "Yes".
PFD success is all realtive to the amount of work you put into it.
I have had 6 PFD's in the last year! (I had 18 derogs when I started) That sounds really impressive. Until you look at the fact I have sent WELL over 200 letters out, at a MINIMUM of 44 cents a pop, some of them were certified mail, priority mail, all sorts of approaches. I have spent over 300 dollars sending out letters. The doesn't include emails, backdoor emails, and countless faxes. And many, many rejections. Sometimes I have been rejected 10+ times and then outta nowhere they accept.
No one will EVER tall you PFD is easy. It does happen though; and happens to those who put in the most work (and occasionally, those who just get flat lucky)

Thanks for the advice - I will write to AFNI and get it in the mail today. I also wrote out goodwill letters to the 3 collection agencies on my CR's .... we'll see. Can't hurt to ask and keep trying -- plus I have the time and love a good challenge.

DO GW LETTERS GO TO THE OC OR CA?

They can go to either. Just send them to whoever is reporting.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782

Amazingly, I was able to get a credit reporting agency to agree to delete three accounts over the phone today. They felt sorry for me because they were from 2007 but didn't report until 2011 so it makes them look very current. !! I'll let you guys know if it changes my score. WOOHOO!!
I woulda never thought to even ask if it wasn't for you smart peeps around here. Thanks!
Hi Booner72,
Which agency? Am going to call them all tomorrow to see if I can get an old report from 2005 off mine. It has $0 balance and was closed ages ago. Thanks
It was a local agency here Oregon. I don't want to advertise bc I know she did me a big favor and I'd hate to have people calling that company saying they heard that they did deletes.
I am actually working w/ 2 collection agencies - The other one had 5 accounts that I paid in full (all small stupid amounts) and they did not update my credit reports as they said they would, so I disputed online with Equifax today. (I probably shouldn't have done that, but the CA is now saying it could take 90 days for the report to update otherwise). They also told me it is illegal for them to delete accounts that are already on the reports. LIES LIES LIES
I grilled Equifax over the phone and they claim that disputing does not lower a score. Though Equifax FAKO credit score went from 651 to 649 for no reason I can tell other than the judgment was disputed to reflect as settled. I'm getting dinged twice for the same (*&(&* accounts.
