Pay for delete to CC company or collections?

A little back round before I ask my question. I had almost $11000 in credit card debt on three card and have paid off all but $900 of it in six years. I had all three of my cards on a credit counseling plan. In the last year I lost my part time job and was unable to stay on the plan. I paid off two of the cards with Bank of America, but Chase would not deal with me. I can't figure out the best way to pay this off. I have just gotten one notice from a collections agency about the Chase account, but the collections has not shown up on my credit report. Should I send a pay for delete to the credit card company or should I send it to the collections agency? If I send it to the original credit card company should I take out the first paragraph from Tuscani's letter saying that I don't have the account number? I'm confused and can't figure out the best way to pay this off. Help! Between finals and my daughter my brain is fried!

Send the letter to the OC (Chase)..stating you will pay if they agree to pull the account out of collection...or write the CA a letter stating you will pay...if they agree not to report to the CRA...

It depends on who owns the account and who is reporting. You say the CA is not reporting yet. That is good. Is Chase still reporting? Do they report a $0 balance.

Can you PIF? If you can, call up Chase and ask them if your PIF if they will remove from collections. Is the account CO? If so, ask about them removing the CO and just state it is closed/paid on your report.

I wouldn't deal with the average joe that answers the phone when you first call. Ask for an account specialist or the collections department.
