Paying a collection account

If I pay a collection account will my credit score go up or stay the same just because it's a collection account that will remain on my report?  Can I pay it and have the collection agency remove it from my credit report?

This is called a PFD, which if successful would remove the TL from your report.  This is what you would want.  If just paid, it's still a derogatory and will affect your scores.
