Re: Paying medical collections that are not reporting to CRAs

I am sending a letter today asking the OC for PFD on the 2 medical collections. If, however, they do NOT accept my request - do I try to send a check marked FOR DEPOSIT ONLY to them anyway? (I'm pretty certain the OC with respond by mail with - PAY THE CA.)

Dh and I are trying to buy a house within the next two months. I was trying to clean up loose ends when contacting the OC to pay off these 2+ yr old (previously non-reporting) collection accounts. I see now that I should have left them be, and paid them after closing on a house.

We really don't have time to work thru the HIPPA two letter process (that could take several weeks).

Any advice?

Paying might help you with respect to buying a house.I would post your mortgage concerns in that forum. As for paying the OC, you could try for a PFD. If they accept payment but don't delete, you'll have to intiate the letter process.
