Re: Paying off a charged off, closed account?

I don't believe a verizon account will be included in your UTI%. If its updating monthly though, settling it will allow it to start aging and hurting your scores less.

It is not all about credit scoring.

Any unpaid delinquent debt may, if known to others, continue to be a factor in evaluation and denial of credit, even after expirtion of SOL or exclusion from your credit report.

Exactly! I want Midland to PFD, they contend they won't do it. Others have reported otherwise. But when it's a luxury to pay them off, I will do so. Right now is not the time.

Same with First Premier, it's charged-off, no longer updating but still on my report.

I agree with NormanFH on the utilization. Scores should jump if the accounts are reporting 100% or more in your utilization. As mentioned, unpaid debt will definitely be a factor in all denials. Paid debt will help during recon.
