Paying off collections

Hello,

I have two collections that were on my report that I recently paid off...and will be updated soon to a zero balance...should I request the collection agency to remove them?

How successful is this to do?

Absolutely. My wife had one and before her last payment she contacted them about removing it. Thay had no problem with it at all. Her score went up 45 points

How did she do it?  Write them a letter?  How did she phrase the letter?
