Please advise on this medical collection (PFD, 5 yr NYS rule, etc.)

I recently posted about an old medical collection.  I sent a pfd a few days ago, and today the manager called me (I missed the call).

Now, I called the OC (out of state hospital) yesterday and they told me the account FIRST went deliquent in April 2008 (date of service was Dec 2007).  I live in New York.  I've heard some things about the Five year paid collections rule.  Five years is RIGHT around the corner.  Now with that said....

Should I speak with the CA?  No doubt they want to discuss the account but you never know what they will say (refuse to do PFD or refuse to put it in writing, etc.) Or perhaps I should just pay in full and let the 5 yr rule come into place.  My only worry with this is I don't have the DOFD with the OC in writing.

Thank you for your responses.

The DOFD must be supplied to the CRA with any CO'd account.  I would try for a PFD, if not, then I would pay/settle the account and when it hit the 5 year mark I would make sure it is excluded.  You sometimes have to remind the CRAs that you are in NY and of the CRTP of your state.

Thank you.  I'm relieved that even if the PFD doesn't work, I can get this removed in a few weeks.  As this is my last baddie (well, other than the tax lien from a few years back), I would like to think that my score is gonna see a nice lil' bump

So they said they cannot do a PFD Robot Mad However, the DV they will send will include dates of service which helps me GREATLY.  Although they may have very well have violated HIPAA,we'll see.

Thank goodness for living in NYS.  I'm just going to go ahead and pay this debt ASAP since the DOFD will make five years in April.  I can use the documents establish the dates.

When should I alert the CRA to remove the entry?
