Portfolio Recovery Associates collection letter. - In Texas

I received a letter from them for a Sears account. In their letter they send me it says because of the age of your debt, we will not sue you and we will not reported to any credit reporting agencies.

Should I DV them or just ignore their letter.  The SOL is way pass on this.

I have a DV letter ready in case I need to send it.

Do they currently show up on your CR?

If not, keep the letter and do nothing.

The documentation is the ammo here.

You could send them a DV, or seeing as this must be a zombie debt you can just send a cease and desist letter.

It sounds to me as though they are simply acknowledging that the they can not sue as the SoL has run and they cannot report because FCRA reporting timeline has run - if its not on your credit do nothing - they can continue to try to collect forever but thats about it - if it is on your credit and you are past your states SoL and beyond the 7.5 years then just dispute it through the CRAs

Starting Score: TU:619 (02/24/2012) - EQ:629 (02/24/2012)

Wait, it can't be a zombie debt - they didn't threaten to throw you in jail and kill your first born child!

At least they are being honest...what has the world come to when collection agencies are honest and truthful and try to act farily?!
