QUICKIE!!! -- FIRST PREMIER -- APPLY OR NOT?

Hey!

Quickie...

In the process of rebuilding. I just got 300CL Secured BofA card....have quite a few baddies,

Should I apply for First Premier? I know it's AWFULLLLL but should I apply just to get another tradeline or just leave them alone completely?

Personal experience, I was desperate like you to quickly get another card for my wallet to rebuild but I would HIGHLY advise a big no to First Premier. When I had them, they did not do credit limit increases but would give you another low limit card: to pay additional fees on, lower your AAoA, etc. Don't waste your time, it's not worth it. Try the Pre-Approval button at Capital One. Go Cap One to get started on the rebuild. Again, my personal experience and I have found it will hurt you far more than help.

Re: QUICKIE!!! -- FIRST PREMIER -- APPLY OR NOT?

True, probably not for a year or two. Smiley Happy

Still, First Premier is not worth it in my opinion. It's been awhile for me looking at new cards. Take another members advice on an alternative card, but FP actually hurt me more than help.

If you really want another TL try the shopping card trick and get one you would use.

Re: QUICKIE!!! -- FIRST PREMIER -- APPLY OR NOT?

Could someone give me some guidance on things to apply to. For instance what store cards? Any cards that are pretty much guaranteed approval like First Premier but maybe not the awful rep of FP?

Re: QUICKIE!!! -- FIRST PREMIER -- APPLY OR NOT?

I got two secured [$300 each] credit cards from First Progress. When you app for the first one, you are prompted to apply for the 2nd. Deposit made with my debit card. Easy as pie. Also got a secured cc and a secured installment loan [$1,000] with a local CU. I think that applying for unsecured cards and getting denied only hurts your credit and prolong your rebuilding of credit profile. I'm now gardening for the next 12 months. Scores now in mid 600s and want to see them at 700 or better.
