Question about a charge off

I have a charge off only on my Experian CR

I'm confused by the status and status details.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Status:

Account charged off $4851 written off, $2691 past due as of May 2008

Status Details:

This account is schedule to continue on record until Dec 2012

This item was verified on Mar 2008 and remained unchanged

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does this mean that Dec 2012, this will drop off my credit report?

I thought it was 7.5 years from DOFD which is 2007

Re: Question about a charge off

Yes, that is what it means.  And yes, it is up to 7.5 years from the DoFD.

Is there one listed?

Re: Question about a charge off

Actually my bad DOFD lists March 2006 as per the account history on my Experian CR

So this one I think I should just wait it out. It's only on my Experian CR.

It says Charged off as of May 2008.

But it's still not 7.5 years from DOFD, thats why im confused.

Re: Question about a charge off

It may have been COd in 2008 but it probably went to collections before that.

The first time you were late and never caught up again would be the DoFD.

So I should just wait this one out I think? Another year and if im right, as years go buy, old collections tend to weigh less an less.

Re: Question about a charge off

Unless you have the money to pay it, I would leave it alone and let it age off.

Re: Question about a charge off

Well the CA was pretty rude when I spoke to them 1 year ago. The guy has an attitude problem. He wouldnt even consider a PFD. He treated me like a murderer and was very patronizing boosting how his EQ score was 'premium' and that it was very irresponsible of me not to pay not even listening that I couldnt pay because i was unemployed and barely making the ends meet.

*Rant switch off*

Re: Question about a charge off

Yea, they are not the nicest people in the world.  I believe they think by berating you and making you feel like crap you will buckle under and pay.
