Question about collection notice

I just received a letter in the mail from a collection representative, for a balance I owed to a gym. I paid the balance earlier this month, but they must have sent it to a collections company in the interim. When I log into my account with the gym, it says I've paid and owe nothing. What can I do to keep this from reporting, so far it hasn't? Do I send a validation letter or a good will letter? Never had anything actually go to collections

Re: Question about collection notice

Hello,

I would send a DV or call the OC and ask them to recall the debt since it was already paid, the collection agency has nothing to collect on.

Re: Question about collection notice

Thanks for the reply. Can the OC recall the debt? I didn't know that was possible. I made the payment directly through that company's website, which made it all the more alarming when I received a collection notice. I'd have thought, if they sent it to collections or sold it, however it works, that I wouldn't be able to log into that account and make a payment.
