Question about collection

I have a bill from HSN for $111. It shows on my credit report with Experian with Rash and Curtis doe $132. I called HSN and they said my acct is with Check home plus and not rash and Curtis. So I paid the $111 today. Could I dispute tthe collection on my report as not having collection authority? It's th only collection on my EX report??

thanks in advance.

Re: Question about collection

The CRA reporting policy is that a debt collector delete their reported collection if their collection authority is terminated with the debt remaining unpaid.

However, if they had collection authority at time the debt was paid, the policy is that the collection should not be deleted.

If you paid the OC while the debt collector still had collection authority, then there is no basis for a dipute requiring deletion of the collection.

The procedure it to request the debt collector to voluntariy delete.

Re: Question about collection

If Rash and Curtis don't have collection authority then you can dispute it for that reason.
