Quick Question

got approved for 2 cap 1 cards, and these are the only 2 i have. both unsecured.  is a 3rd necessary? was looking at the Credit One Gas Rewards card, since my low scores and being out of chap 7 for about 4 months.  its either this or a store card, i just dont know which.  barclays denied me so im wary on what i apply for now.

also i saw capital one is partnered with sony for a card, a playstation card, and some buyback card.  with beinbg approved for 2 cap 1 cards and a cap 1 auto loan, are the chances of being approved for a cap 1 partner card high? thanks in advance.

Re: Quick Question

I don't know the answer for certain, but I have repeatedly seen on these boards that 3 revolving cards are the best for the most impact to FICO scoring. If you are willing to go the secured route, BoA has a good secured card. Also, SDFCU is a nice secured option because it doesn't do another HP.

Hopefully those with more knowledge will chime in shortly.

Re: Quick Question

I would steer away from the Credit One bank cards... I would try maybe the FNBO Kickstart or BofA Secured (You can get the 123 rewards put on the BofA card after you are approved.) Also look at local credit unions. Literally one of the best cards for me is a local credit union secured card. No annual fee, automatic graduation with 12 consecutive monthly payment on time, and great rates (Even with a LOWLOWLOW score, the highest APR is 18%.)

For credit union cards, go HERE to find a local credit union. Search your state, then you can look at the details to find ones that have a branch near you, where you would qualify for living in their community. Then just go to the sites of the ones you qualify to join and see if they have secured/rebuilder cards. Smiley Happy

Re: Quick Question

thank you for the replies!!!

a secured card is a route i am not looking to take, so maybe i should just garden the 2 unsecured ones i got approved for.

tempted to try the capital one sony or capital one playstation card.

Re: Quick Question

Still, credit unions would be a good way to go. You may easily qualify for a good unsecured card from a local credit union with good rates. Credit unions tend to be forgiving in their scoring models.

You could try the unsecured cards from Discover, BofA, USBank, etc. If you were approved for two, already, you would stand a good chance, I would think.

But if you don't see a good card you really would get good use out of, just sit and garden what you have. Two revolving CCs in good standing, gaining age, is good for your AAoA. Smiley Happy
