REALLY?!!

I just received an alert. My score has dropped 18 pts. Reason: You may be looking for new credit...**bleep**! I haven't applied for anything in months. I did open a new checking account, but that alerted on 9/14, and my score actually increased a few days later on the 18th. Can someone explain this to me.

Re: REALLY?!!

Did they do a HP to open the checking account?   Where did you get the alert from?

Re: REALLY?!!

The reasons SW gives can't be relied upon.  Anything else change that you can see?  Utilization increase?

Re: REALLY?!!

Just checked my report, soft pull on 10/2. So why did it affect my score?

A soft pull would not have affected your score.

9 times out of 10, when someone posts something like this, there is some other change that they are not seeing.  You could also have been rebucketed (which is of course the myFICO cop out response when we can't figure out what happened).

Re: REALLY?!!

I went over it, nothing has changed except the soft pull. That's bs when I've worked so hard to repair my credit and points are taken off just because...
