I am currently trying to qualify for a mortgage with first time homebuyers down payment assistance. I read some of the great advice on this site and sent RJM acquisitions a PFD letter with settlement offer. I just received their response. Although they are willing to take the settlement amount (about 30% of original debt) they will not delete trade line. The letter states they will change their reporting to paid with a zero balance. I don't know where to go from here. This is the only collection account on my reports. Should I offer a higher settlement amount or just take what they are offering. I need to qualify within the next 60 days. I only need 18 more points.
Keep trying. I recently PFD'd them. They WILL do it.
Google "rjm acquisitions fax number" and you'll find it, starts with a 516 area code. That is where I sent my letter.
RJM is one of the more consumer friendlier CAs. I'd keep trying!
I just worked with them last week. I had a balance of $133. I called in with a PFD and the guys who took my call said no problem. He faxed me our agreement in writting and I paid online witha credit card. Checked two days later and the tradeline was gone...poof.
Did you try to offer pay in full for a delete. Maybe thats what they want.
Keep pushing for the PFD, what is the SOL, will it falling off shortly.
The SOL has passed. It is due to fall off my reports Nov. 2013. I can offer A higher amount if needed. I guess my next step is to fax a settlement for a higher amount and see if that will get them to delete. Thanks for the advice. I will update once I hear back.
