Bad debt on my fico

I've been trying to pay off a bad credit card debt. The Company that took over the debt is telling me the debt was sold to another company and I have no Idea how to take care of it. I't the only thing on my report and I don't know if I should pay the entire thing?

In my opinion, you should pay off the entire debt.   

I don't know if there are other factors that would influence my opinion.

If the OC actually did sell the debt, then you cant pay them.

If the new owner has not yet contacted you or reported, all you can do is ask the OC who they sold the debt to, and tty try contact them that way.
