Basically a FICO score in a nutshell says, "HEY I LOVE DEBT".   And sorry, but there are MANY of us out here who DONT love debt and prefer to pay for everything with good ol hard cash.

(Thats why it's harder for someone with a zero score to get qualified than someone with a 580 score).

We cleaned our credit reports up-  and scores are still low- and its all because we dont have a single credit card or auto loan.

I think thats a wee bit of hyperbole. No one loves debt, and most realize that unless you are extrememly fortunate or lucky, the natural course in most people's lives to get things they need at a point when they don't have the liquid position to cover it (education, car, home, etc.). How they respond to debt, however is up to them and their circumstances.

It's also possible to use a CC several times a month, and never go into debt. So equating CCs with debt is not necessarliy an absolute.

The truth is that future lending requires extensive proof of low-risk and responsible past lending, even more so now than 5 years ago. There is absolutely no way around that. Put yourself in their shoes.
