Re: Rebuilding my credit

yeah I realize that but it's just kind of reassuring I guess to. Gives me more motivation to realize that I too could possibly have the same increase or higher.

Re: Rebuilding my credit

Just a little update for anybody who cares. Smiley Wink

I started off with 7 collection accounts and now i'm down to 3. Two of them are medical and one is for banfield pet hospital. I was able to get into contact with the actual hospital and the customer rep said I could still pay it so I just sent in my payment for that today. She also said that they would inform the CA and have it pulled from them.

And for anybody who cares. The Collection Agencies I was able to have removed include Enhanced Recovery Solutions (ERC) and I.C. Systems Inc.

I have 1 more with I.C. Systems that I plan on taking care of in the next few weeks and the last one would be from Designed Receivable Solutions (medical).

If anybody wants any details on what I did to have those companies removed please feel from the PM or email me and I'll explain to you what I did and hopefully it will work for you.

I've also gotten a Cap1 Secured CC and have found a family member who is in the army that just signed up with NFCU so I will become a member with them very soon.

The biggest things I have left are 4 Credit Cards that are charged off but I can't seem to find out who owns them through the equifax credit report I get.

I also have a Bank of America Credit Card that was very behind in 2009 or 2010. I was able to settle it with BOA themselves instead of having it go through collections. The account has been paid for since 2010 and I'm really not sure how to go about getting it removed. It's listed under negative accounts but it says "Pays as Agrees" and in the comments it states "Account Closed by Credit Grantor." What options do I have to get this removed?

And lastly I have my student loans that were in default or worse until about March 2012 when the collection agency that had it allowed me to go through a rehabilitation program. I finished the program in December 2012 or Jan. 2013. There are 3 separate accounts for them and they all are in the negative account sections but pays as agree. I called the SC Student loan office and the guy informed me that at the moment they can't have it go to a positive account and that with more on-time payments I can try again. So i've got automatic payments set for them and will wait a few months. If they don't agree to it by then, I have a paper for the rehabilitation company that states once my rehabilitation is complete the accounts are to go back to being positive per the agreement so I'll just submit that to the Credit Bureau's and see what happens.

So quick summary: Started at 540, went down to 533, went back up to 547, and just yesterday improved to a 563. I'm hoping once I get the 3 student loans to show positive it'll bump me into the 600 range. Is that possiblity? Also I really need some feedback on the BoA CC if anybody can provide any advice, guidance, or tips. Thanks so much for the help that I've received from everyone so far. This would have never happened if it wasn't for this community and the wonderful people in it.

Re: Rebuilding my credit

OK. So I was able to find an answer to my BoA Credit Card question. Looks like its not affecting my score from what I gathered from google. Seems like the verdict is whether the account is closed by me or the creditor makes no difference. It's just still a little baffling that under my Credit Reports it's still listed under negative accounts.

Re: Rebuilding my credit

Was the BoA sent to collections or just had late payments?

If it just had late payments it would still be considered an adverse account whether it was paid off or not.  The late payments will come off 7 years from each occurence.  When the last one is gone the account will again become positive and stay for up to 10 years from date closed.

The comment closed by credit grantor has no impact on your score.

Re: Rebuilding my credit

yes unfortunately it still has late payments on it but it never went to collections. I payed the balance to BoA and they told me it would be closed after the payment. This was around 2009-2010. The last time it was updated was in 01/14/2012. Will the lates still fall off if it's not currently updating?

No need to get frustrated, you got this. That 620 isn't very far away and you are on the right track.

Re: Rebuilding my credit

ah man... I decided to finally go ahead and get my fico transunion score today. It's a freaking 614. I don't know where it started but i'm so ecstatic. I wonder what my experian one is. I'm that much closer to getting a house in the next year if my experian is also in the 600 range. I can defefinatly have just about everything paid or removed or both in that time. This is really encouraging and just the motivation I needed.
