I have a paid tax lien back from August of 2011 that I would like to see if I could get removed from my report.
To make a long story short, old employer lied about I got screwed from my unemployment after a few checks. They determined I wasn't eligible any longer and I needed to pay back all the money they sent me. I wasn't working at the time and was unable to do so, so they took their payment from my tax return.
This caused a tax lien on my credit report.
I reside in the state of Wisconsin, if that makes any difference.
Does this come off after 7 years? Is their any way to get it removed.
It only shows on my EQ and TU report, not on my EX.
My EX scored is about 60 points higher than the rest, which is I'm assuming why that is.
Any advice?
The exclusion period for a tax lien is 7 years from date paid, not the date the lien was placed.
In order for the lien to be removed early you need to get them to withdraw it.

How do I go about getting that done? What steps do I need to do? Whom do I speak too?

You need to send a letter to the agency that issued the lien asking that it be withdrawn since its been satisfied if they agree then it can come off your CR.
