Re: Repair Diary: Rebounding like Barkley

I've been waiting for August 1 for quite awhile so I could begin EE on TU. I woke up this morning to this TU score:

I'M OVER 700. IT SAYS GOOD! I'm so happy. All the hard work, patience, phone calls, saving, working extra jobs and everything else has paid off and I'm in the home stretch. I can't wait to see where my scores are in 6 months!

updates!

CLIs

Overstock - +$200      ---> $1,100 CL

Status as of 8/1/15:

EQ 634 (-4)

TU 711 (+66!!!)

EX 622 (+2)

Still in line for credit steps CLI next month, hopefully a CLI with NFCU finally, and I will start EE with the other bureaus on a few items shortly.

Re: Repair Diary: Rebounding like Barkley

Some updates!

I was able to get 4 items removed from my Experian CR using EE on 9/1. Got +8 points. Nothing crazy, but I'll take it. Still have a few baddies showing.

CLIs

Quicksilver - +$500 Credit Steps   ---> $4,500 CL

Quicksilver 2 - +500 Credit Steps  ---> $3,750 CL

Overstock - +$200  ---> $1,300 CL

Navy Federal +$4000  ---> $10,000 CL

I combined my Quicksilvers into one with an $8,250 credit line to further help with higher limits down the line. Now I have:

Quicksilver - $8,250

Navy Federal - $10,000

Overstock - $1,300

Score Status as of 9/4/15:

EQ 635

TU 711

EX 636 (+8)

Next round of EE will begin 11/1.

Re: Repair Diary: Rebounding like Barkley

Wow you have been working hard and it shows. Congratulations! I'll bet come March all of your scores will be over 700. What a turnaround in just one year.

Any guidance on how to get lates removed from Direct Loans? Those are really my only baddies, but it is killing me.

This has been a long, long, tiring, long battle. I am documenting it here mainly to keep myself motivated, but also to help others who are facing a similar scary mountain of negatives. My life basically went to hell early in 2009. A combination of being broke in grad school, co-signing motorcycles for an untrustworthy family member, and a lengthy unemployment really taught me some hard lessons about my finances. Now I'm in the homestretch with TU - only a couple of items from being clear! We can do this.

Scores as of today:

TU: 710 (3 baddies left)

EX: 644 (3 baddies left)

EQ: 638 (6 baddies left)

Clearly the Capital One charge-off (utilization killer at 256%, updating monthly) and the University Loan (14 months of lates, including 10 180-day lates from 2013/2014) are doing the most damage. Once the Cap One CO came off TU I got a huge jump, so looking forward to that one dropping soon. Smiley Happy

Re: Repair Diary: Rebounding like Barkley

Awesome job!!!

Your posts are definitely motivation for us. I'm sitting low to mid 500s after I was a passenger in an auto accident all 3 of my CC have 90 day lates so I'm starting the GW process to get those removed, as well as DV and PFD for my derogs. Keep up the great work.

Experian is down to one baddie left with the removal of my Capital One CO. If you are curious as to how a CO that is updating monthly can hurt you, that baddie was 6 years, 9 months old and accounted for 66 FICO points. SIXTY SIX. And it's not even my last baddie.46 points on my dirtier Equifax CR. If you have a similar baddie - a CO that updates monthly with a balance that is way over the old credit limit, address it ASAP if you can. It will hurt majorly until it's gone. Also picked up 20 points on TU with the removal of another charge off that had been closed a couple of years. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Scores as of today:

TU: 730 (+20 points) - 1 baddie left

EX: 704 (+66 points) - 1 baddie left

EQ: 684 (+46 points) - 5 baddies left

Re: Repair Diary: Rebounding like Barkley

Figured it was time for an update!

TransUnion:

CLEAN

Experian:

CLEAN

Equifax:

CLEAN but hasn't updated

Some exciting updates! I have finally managed to get my reports cleaned up completely. No lates, collections, charge-offs, or public records. I spent about an hour today just going through my files and really am appreciating the amount of work that went into this rebuild. From February of this year until today I've written letters, paid things, written more letters, faxed documents to executives, had incorrect information updated, applied for early exclusion, and more.

I started off the year with around 14 major derogs on every bureau, including the dreaded student loan lates. Thanks to lots of research, patience (and at times no patience) and persistence, along with lots of fine folks on the internet willing to help others, my repair journey is pretty much over. I have no shifted into rebuild/fatten my file mode.

Scores as of today:

TU: 718 (-18) - no baddies! Actually lost a few points when the last baddie disappeared. Annoying. Hopefully it'll rebound in time.

EX: 755 (+111 points) - no baddies! Gained a ton of points here. Was actually up to 768 before my app spree.

EQ: 684 (no change) - waiting for everything to process on this one.

Will update on a final tally! Next up: PHASE II - REBUILDING!
