A payment due on January 15 would be reportable to the CRA as a 30 day late only if unpaid as of February 15th
The standard credit reporting manual used by the CRAs goes into excrutinating detail, with examples, in making it clear that being late on a payment does not constutite a reportable late to a CRA. You may incur late fees or an interest rate hike under your account agreement once you are late, but all lates are not reportable to a CRA.
A 30-late is very clearly defined as a payment not received within 30 days after the billing due date, not the billing date.
Thank you RobertEG(I was hoping you would answer-you seem to know so much about all of this after reading your previous posts). The actual debate though involved the fact that January has 31 days. So technically, would the company be able to report as of February 14th? Or do they go by the next due date of Feb 15 and report if payment is not recieved by that point.
