Sending GW letter to AFNI paid off!

Was in the process of getting a house when an old internet bill was sent to AFNI. Paid it in full hoping it would save me from a big drop. Went and had a rescore done and lost my pre approval yesterday. Wrote AFNI a letter last night and received this response this morning:

Thank you for your inquiry.  We have filed a request with all 3 major credit reporting agencies to delete the listing from your credit report.  However, it can take the credit reporting agencies up to 60 days to update their records

Also, there was a PDF that was attached saying they sent a letter to the CRA. Hoping my score will shoot up atleast 20-30 points when they take it off....it dropped nearly 40 when it was added from 2 months ago.

Re: Sending GW letter to AFNI paid off!

I think OP is referring to a UDF - Universal Data Form that is used to send information to the CRAs.  It could well be called something else but I know UDF.

Their scored dropped when it hit the reports and they are hoping it will go back up when deleted.

Re: Sending GW letter to AFNI paid off!

Sorry for not being more clear. This popped up on my credit report in May, after being pre approved for a mortgage. I paid it in full immediately, and it reflected on my credit report as paid in full. However, damage was still done to my credit report so I sent a letter of good will last night, in attempt to get them to remove it. They sent me a letter attached to the email, in a pdf format, with the message:

This letter is to verify that we have filed a request with the credit bureaus to delete the account listed above from your credit
report.
If you have any questions, please contact our office toll free at 1-888-827-6002 Monday through Friday 7am – 9pm CT.
You have the right to inspect your credit. This letter is from a debt collector.
Sincerely,
Afni, Inc.

The body of the email said:

I'll post my email to them if you guys really want it, but it just described the situation as to why I missed the bill in the first place, my situation now and how it would really help me out to have them removed from my credit report as it was keeping me from getting a house.
