I have paid off various derog. accounts over the last year or two, but they still show as paid collections. I really wanted to take the 2500.00 offer as I dont think they will come down much more and I wanted to work on rebuilding.

It was worth a shot. That maxxed card is gonna be a huge weight until you get it paid down some.

But, like I said, if they were willing to settle for 10% now, its likely that they will do so again. So just work on getting your UTI down and establish a couple more revolving accounts. You might even inquire as to the possibility of doing a payment plan on that $2500 settlement offer.
