So Annoyed!!

I have been getting a call from what I assume is a collection agency for my mother. I have gotten about 15 calls from them in the last 2 weeks. Each time I tell them that this is not her number. I have always been nice up until today. When the guy on the phone told me that I was lying and that this is her number. I have had this same number for 15 years it is not her number. I have asked them to stop calling that I will not see my mother until after the holidays. I am so annoyed with them continuing to call. They call me while I am at work and if I don't answer they call back until I do. Is there anything that I can do about this? I hung up on the "manager" of the department today after I again told him that this is not her number and to remove my number. I asked for the name of the business that he was calling from and he said that I should know that if I have gotten so many calls. They refuse to say who they are every time.  He refused to remove it and said that they will continue to call until they can reach her.... GRR!!

The number is 678-456-3145  anyone know who this is?

Looked on 800Notes and it appears that it is a scam for Payday loans.  I would suggest if you can to block the number.  They will probably call from a different number, but maybe if you put up enough roadblocks, they will quit harrassing you.

File a complaint with the CFPB for their violation of FDCPA 804 by making more than one call with no reasonable basis for concluding that you are not being truthful, and for stating that the party owes a debt.

FDCPA 804:

"Any debt collector communicating with any person other than the consumer for the purpose of acquiring location information about the consumer shall --

(1) identify himself, state that he is confirming or correcting location information concerning the consumer, and, only if expressly requested, identify his employer;

(2) not state that such consumer owes any debt;

(3) not communicate with any such person more than once unless requested to do so by such person or unless the debt collector reasonably believes that the earlier response of such person is erroneous or incomplete and that such person now has correct or complete location information;

(4) not communicate by post card;

(5) not use any language or symbol on any envelope or in the contents of any communication effected by the mails or telegram that indicates that the debt collector is in the debt collection business or that the communication relates to the collection of a debt; and

(6) after the debt collector knows the consumer is represented by an attorney with regard to the subject debt and has knowledge of, or can readily ascertain, such attorney's name and address, not communicate with any person other than that attorney, unless the attorney fails to respond within a reasonable period of time to communication from the debt collector."
