Are the CAs selling my information? I am in the process of repairing and rebuilding. I got a phone call today from a CA I did not contact. Why are they calling me all of a sudden? And how did they get my work number? Are the CAs exchanging my information now that I have made contact? This particular CA (Dynamic Recovery Solutions) has a debt from 2007. They left a message and I did not return the call.
I plan to DV and also send a C&D.
There are several skip trace methods the CAs use to find information about you, and I'm sure they share these somehow.
You say you are sending a DV, why would you send a C&D at the same time. That just keeps them from contacting you, the debt will remain and stay on your CR.
The DV would be timely so it would bar them from collection activity until they respond to the DV, so they couldn't call your work. A C&D would prevent them from contacting you at all, if it was in SOL they would probably go straight for a judgement.
The next time they call, tell them that this is a place of business (if they are calling you at work) and to stop calling this number. I believe legally, they have to stop calling. The FDCPA code, 15 U.S.C ss, 1692b-c tells us that once you tell a creditor that your employer does not allow calls concerning these things coming into the workplace, they must adhere and not call again.
Thank you very much! Very useful information. Much appreciated!
I believe that the request has to be in writing. I would send CMRR.
