Great news on the removal of PRA!!!!
Great job! Keep at it!
Lost it today. Tried to use one of the First Progress cards I made a payment on SIX days ago and was declined. Website and phone reflect a $0.00 balance but I cannot use the card because my "payment was large enough to trigger a 10 day wait to see if the funds clear". Enough. I am applying for a Bank of America Secured Card to the tune of $1,000. Having 5 revolving accounts wasn't my initial plan, but doing this now is better than later as I am not looking forward to home/car loans for at least 2 years. This will eventually leave me with 3 QUALITY secured cards: Capital One, US Bank and Bank of America if I am approved.
Good bye First Progress. I am going to use these cards until the annual fee I paid is used up and then I am cancelling them both. I will not recommend these cards to anybody and have nothing good to say. They will not even let me register the second card online, so all of my dealings with the second card have to be done over the phone. I should've never applied for the second one. Oh well. I expect my FICO to probably stay about the same, since the addition of a 3rd account in less than 2 months will hurt, but the $1,000 will bring my 98% utility down, so we'll see what happens with the addition of this card and the deletion of Portfolio in the coming weeks.
Called 2 CA's that are not reporting and are just collecting for First Premier and Capital One and settled today:
First Premier: Original debt $901, Settled for $500.
Capital One: Original debt $518, Settled for $284.90
Both will list Settled in full with $0 balance and will bring my utilization down a LOT, over $1,400 in utilization was tied up between these 2 cards.
Now to GW them. Not going to update my accounts in my journal until the $0 balance hits on both accounts so I don't get ahead of myself. Today is a good day, I even bought my co-worker lunch after saving over $700 in the settlements. The CA's, NCO and ARM, were extremely courteous. The managers of both CA's gave me direct lines and said if something goes wrong and the money isn't available to call them and they will cancel the payment. I assured them we were good to go and they both sent me e-mails with the terms of our agreements. HAPPY DANCE FOR MY UTILIZATION coming down from over 100% to easily under 20-30%. Can't wait to reap the benefits of these 2 going away!
Grats on everything the last few days. Sounds like you're making headway!
Thanks! An inch at a time sir. I also can't wait to see your progress, being under 500 is actually not so bad when you consider that there's really only up from here, so you'll have more encouragement week by week than someone that is close to 600 and can't really break the barrier.
That's good work sphinx, that's two accounts paid and done, don't have to worry about them anymore, plus it will help your util. Now that they are paid, get the GWs out, it's getting to the holiday spirit, maybe you can get a grinch to grow a heart!
I'll be sure to let you guys know if any Grinches are nice this holiday season!
Congrats! Just apped for BOFA hoping they counter offer wiith partial secured (not likely). Sent a check to WF for a secured credit card since they graduate and thinking about opening US bank secured for $300 as well.
after that i am gonna do the same as you and pay off my 3 charge offs:
Macys: $318
First Premier: little bit under $1k for 2 accts
Like keeping track of your progress as we are in very similar situations!!
keep it up!
