In cases where a dispute was lost (for me) comments hung out until I called the respective agencies and requested their removal. TBH, I pretty much started out in 2007 with a shotgun approach and didn't get fully educated until joining/participating here.
Keep pushing because it feels great when the last late payment or negative item finally goes away.
So I ALMOST had to cry in Wal-Mart a minute ago, luckily I would've fit right in with all the other crazies in there. I was walking through food shopping with my wife and my boys and my phone got an e-mail and a text at the same time.....that only happens when it's a myFICO SW alert or Chase, so I look at my phone and it's myFICO for the second time today saying it has detected a score change....being the cynical bastard that I am, I start swearing that it's a decrease in score and my wife walks away cause I'm mumbling angrily to myself.
I pull up the website....599. SON OF A GUN 1 point away from 600. I am telling you I will cry when I hit 600.
The 7 points I just got today were from First Premier changing the balance from $901 to $401. I settled for less so it should report $0 soon, but I'll take the 7 points for $500 in util dropping off.
Woot!!
SW Alert today, score down to 583 from 599. Reason? First Premier is reporting a balance of $901 still instead of $0 and settled so the utilization is still being affected. They dropped it to $401 and I disputed it and they came back with $901 again. This is absolutely ridiculous and I am tired of these companies and their inability to correctly report. What am I supposed to do now? Open another dispute? Call FP?
Hmm, use it to your advantage. Send them a GW and in it let them know that they are currently reporting wrong information on your account. It would serve a dual purpose, one they could just delete, if not, they could throw it into dispute and fix it. Why not give it a try?
Have you had any luck with that Verizon?
BIG BIG BIG win today. Absolutely stoked. I sent a (rather nasty in my opinion) message to the collection agency for the college via their website. In it, I basically stated that I had no immediate reason to pay them unless court was a risk, and that I was aware of their court history sometimes taking 2-3 years before ever getting there. I noted that I would pay in full $1,600 for a deletion.
A lady from the collection agency called me today and said "I hate to be petty, but it's $1,600.75, and yes, we will take it for a deletion". She noted that ALL calls were recorded and kept for some time and that a letter would be drafted today stating the deletion. I promptly gave her my credit card number and the process has begun! Now to get the college to remove the hold on my state tax return for this exact debt!
HUGE win. This being my most recent collection (less than a year old) it should have a decent impact on my credit score!
