Re: Starting credit rebuilding

Welcome to the forums!

I'd suggest reading the following:

Common Abbreviations

Credit Scoring 101 - great for knowing what is in your credit score and to see how your score is impacted.

What Steps Do I Take - great for learning the repair process.

and Example letters - PFDs, GWs, DVs, etc.

First Premier - I'd send a PFD. If after a few attempts I'd PIF and GW at a later date.

LVNV - send a DV. If they verify and you agree, then send a PFD. If they agree in writing, then pay it and they'll delete.

Credit One - send a GW.

You mentioned your state so I assume you are concerned about SOL. If you have the $$$$ to PIF if you had to (to avoid a judgment), then don't worry about SOL. However, if you don't have the $$$$ to PIF if you had to, then do nothing until your state's SOL expires, which is 4 years from the DOFD of the debt in California.
