No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Hi All. Today's question is short. When it comes to rebuilding your credit, which type of card has a greater impact on your report and scores, a retail store card, or a secured card?
And which one of the two is more lenient to inquiries on one's report at decision time?
The inquiries I can't answer. It depends on the creditor.
Either type of card will work the same.
A friend told me to apply for a Cap One MTV card and not bother with any store card, especially those issued by Cap One. I'm also looking into prepaid cards, though I don't know much about them and will continue to read up on them.
Thanks for your response! Anyone else?
Prepaid cards? Are you talking about secured credit cards?
I've heard that store cards do not have as much credibility as bank cards when someone manually reviews your profile. If you want a secured card, I recommend the Bank of America one. I've written a review of the card on my blog if you're interested: http://hiepsfinance.wordpress.com/2013/05/22/todays-feature-bank-of-america-bankamericard-secured-cr...
or general information about secured credit cards you can refer to: http://hiepsfinance.wordpress.com/2013/02/03/credit-cards-for-credit-builders-what-are-your-options-...

I realized that asking about prepaid cards and secured cards would mean the same thing.
