Hello -
Had an old / disputed phone bill with T-Mobile that dated back to 2011. TM sold the debt to Midland who have been reporting it to Experian and Equifax ever since. After a a few online validations and debt verification letter - I finally contacted T-Mobile in Nov 2013 and they allowed me to pay the balence in full with them directly. Upon doing so, they said they would report to Experian/Equifax that the account was closed / paid in full / zero balence.
I assumed all went well until I checked my credit report today and see that Experian and Equifax are still reporting the debt as open/active. I called T-Mobile to verify the account was paid in full and they confirmed, zero balence. Account closed. I asked if they were still reporting it to Midland and they said "no". I asked for a receipt of the final payment or some sort of proof showing the account is closed and they could not provide me with anything other than a receipt #.
Spoke to a rep at Midland to get it removed. He informed me I would need some sort of proof that the bill has been paid in full from T-Mobile. I informed him T-Mobile is unable to provide me with any documentaion and he basically said "Well, your sort of stuck then"
Does anyone know how to proceed to finally get this removed? I tried several reps over seeral days and they both keep essentially saying the same thing.
All i need to do is get a recipt but T-Mobile wont budge. Would a copy of my bank records showing the payment be enough for MIdland?
Any help would be greatly appreciated !
The BBB would be your next step, against both the OC & CA, your paid record from bank stmt will be sufficient proof with the BBB.
Send Midland a DV letter. See if that works. Not the correct or best action really, but in this case,it might work out for you. God I hate Midland.
So I sent in proof of payment and a request to have the account deleted to Midland, Experian, Equifax and Trans Union.
Midland - Has yet to respond, but over the phone they told my that my account has been now changed to "paid"
Equifax replied with a letter, informing me that "This creditor is currently reporting a zero balance for this account"
Experian replied with a letter showing the line item with the following info
Midland Funding / Partial Account # : XXXXXX
Type : Not reported
Monthly Payment : Not reported
Credit Limit : Not reported
High Balance : Not reported
Recent Balance : Not reported
Responsibility : Individual
Status : No Status
Comments : "Account in dispute under FCBA. This item was updated from our processing of your dispute in March 2014"
Very confused as to what it all means! Any help is greatly appreciated
