I called Nelnet and got a deferment because of job layoff. Five months later when hurricane Isaacs hit I asked the SBA for a disaster loan To repair my house. I was denied because Nelnet reported me 150 days late while on deferment. I called them immediately to clear up and they refused and said I did return a form. I never received a letter from Nelnet. Does anyone have any recommendations for me? I need the disaster loan to fix my house ... Married with a family but just started working again...150 late is destroying my score ...
Is your loan in deferment? Would they be willing to let you complete the form now?
Try writing to one of these guys-http://www.nelnet.com/Leadership-And-Board-Of-Directors.aspx?blockid=98,372,90,89,129

No, I have just been paying it. I have been dealing with Nelnet for many years now and this is the first time I've ever been mistreated like this...
Good idea, I'll write someone in their leadership to see if they are OK with this matter. I have reached out to my U.S. Senator and Congressman.
I would use the link provided above and start a round of letters to anybody up the food chain at Nelnet explaining your circumstances and how bad those lates are keeping you from restoring your home.
Thank you. I will write their leadership. I was shocked how they handled it. I'll send the letters certified.
I would also mention how it was handled in the letter. Most upper leadership don't really like to hear things like that about their company.
