I’m posting this because I had trouble figuring out how to get this account removed from my credit report and I hope it can help someone who is in a similar situation. I’m not saying that I took the best approach but it worked for me.
Problem
On my TU report there was a charge off the was illegally reaged by SST/CIGPFICORP. SST/CIGPFICORP reported the correct information to EX and EQ. The account should have fallen off my report in December of 2013. However the account wasn't scheduled to come off till December of 2018. Even worse I assumed it fell off of TU since it fell of the other reports and I was denied a card from barclycard.
Action
I filed a dispute online at TU website and I wrote the following:
The account is obsolete and the correct Date Major Delinquency First Reported is 12/2006. Attached is the correct date reported to Equifax by SST/CIGPFICORP.
I attached a screen shot of the account from an old EQ report that showed the correct information.
Result
After about 20 days TU finalized my dispute and deleted the account. My credit karma score went up 77 points from 644 to 721. My VantageScore raised 70 points from 695 to 764. I can't wait till my next Discover statement to see what effect it will have on my real fico score.
