I am needing some advice. I'm very frustrated and worried about my scores and the whole process. My scores jumped up a lot the first 3 months I started to rebuild my credit. I think part of my problem is I never really had credit to begin with. It started bad, got worse...now I'm trying to recover. I have 5 collection items total between all three credit bureaus. I did have 6 one was removed after I sent a GW letter. All collections have a zero balance, 4 out of the 5 left show and were paid in full. One I settled on and it states that. I have three credit cards. Cap 1 secured CL 200 - reporting 0 balance this month, Cap 1 unsecured CL 300 - isn't reporting yet, NFCU unsecured CL 4000 - 3000 balance ( I used this card to pay off my debt) I will have this paid off in 30 to 60 days at the latest. I have a Sallie Mae account with a 90 day late from Nov 11. I didn't know it was out of deferment, I've tried GW letters and they will not budge. I have an old auto account, it's paid off now, that is showing 90 day lates from 2007-2009 time frame. But it is listing twice on my Equifax credit report. Both account numbers are the same but the monthly amount due is off by 100 on one and correct on the other. I have disputed the account with the wrong payment amount, and I left the correct one alone. But after two separate disputes, it still remains on my report...
Any suggestions on what I can do to improve my score? My husband and I are desperately wanting to purchase a new home soon. THe only thing stopping us is my credit score. His are perfect! I know I need to pay my CC utilization down, and it will be 30-60 days from now...But what else can I do? I feel like I'm stuck!
Edit: I don't have any installment loans. I do however have student loans, they are currently in deferment. If I start paying on them will that report a good standing installment loan? A guy at Wells Fargo suggested this. But I have not heard of this before. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks!!
