Great! I need to check into that myself...i will contact citibank and see if they do secured cards without having an account, i think Wells Fargo Does...we will see

FYI- Both Citibank and Wells Fargo offer a secured card that graduate.

 

Information on the Wells Fargo Secured Card can be obtained on their website. The following is basic information on the Citibank Secured Card:

 

  1. Citibank- Secured Mastercard.
  2. Must apply or get application at a branch.
  3. Banking relationship not nessessary.
  4. You deposit 200-5000 into an 18 month CD. CD earns 1.00APR
  5. Graduates after 18 months.
  6. In the application it states if you have a BK, it must be over 2 years old.
  7. Other criterias probably apply.

This is good info to know.....I do wish that you can deposit more than 5,000 tho.....however I think im going to do 8k at My CU, 1k at citibank and 1k at  Wells Fargo...

I also have a LOC at another CU that I intend on paying in full in December, which will show 12 months of payments on it, should i close it or just leave it alone.....or increase it?

ALSO, DO THEY DO A HARD PULL ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT? IM THINKING OF GOING INTO THE BRANCH AND BRINGING THEM A REPORT SO THAT THEY WONT HAVE TO PULL IT

Is your LOC secured or unsecured? You might want to just leave it alone for now and let it age some more.

 

Regarding Citibank, chances are they will not accept a credit report you provided to them. so it would be a HP. When you do go to Citibank make sure you can get as much information on their approval criteria so you know if you qualify or not.

it Is a secured LOC 1K, originally i signed up for a 48 month LOC, knowing that i would be able to pay it in full in 12 MONTHS. Im hopeful that they will also approve me for their CC, as this will show that I am credit worthy with them....but we will see...i need to know what CR they pull from....Schools CU in California

I got a secured credit card through Amalgamated Bank of Chicago with a $500 CL with a $500 deposit. I think the annual fee was only $29 And after one year of on time payments, they switched me over to unsecured. I have been very happy with this card. www.aboc.com

OKAY....i found out that you do not need to have an account with them in order to get a secured card.....you can open for a minimum of 300..or as much as 5,000   i will be getting this card next month..let you know how fast it reports and what kind of boost
