Date / action
Dec, 2003 / IRS Notice of Federal Tax Lien filed
Apr, 2007 / self-release date for abovementioned tax lien
Jan, 2009 / Certificate of Release of Federal Tax Lien recorded at local recording office by me
Feb, 2009 / EQ updates records showing lien released in Jan, 2009
Questions
The actual release date should be the self-release date (Apr, 2007). However, the IRS doesn't automatically file a Certificate of Release. That task is left to the consumer, which I did in Jan, 2009.
1. Is the date of release important? Or just the fact that it has been released?
2. Is it worthwhile to dispute the release date?
3. Will credit scores increase due to release of tax lien? Or is tax lien status irrelevant to credit scores?
Thanks in advance.
